His Life

A life remembered with gratitude

Mr. T.A. Pathrose was a respected educator and a devoted family man, whose life touched generations through his work, his relationships and his service. He retired from Mar Athanasius Engineering College, Kothamangalam, where he served in the Mechanical Engineering department.

Retirement did not end his teaching. He continued to share his experience and knowledge through service at Sree Narayana Gurukulam Engineering College, Kadayiruppu, and at Holy Kings Engineering College, Pampakuda — giving to students long after he might have rested.

His family humbly requests your prayers and presence as they gather to remember his life and offer their final respects.
Faith & Witness

A man of God

Those who knew him remember his faith first. He was, in the words of one friend, a champion of faith and a warrior who led many to Christ — a principled man who stood unshaken amidst opposition and the pressures of tradition.

Whether at his workplace, among his students, with young people or with the elderly, he valued every opportunity to share Christ with those around him. For him the Gospel was never merely a message for a particular time or place; it was an integral part of his life.

Co-Founder of the Church at Pothanicad

He was part of the team at the church in Mathirappally — alongside Dr. K. Joy David, Dr. Eapen and M. G. Varghese — who set out to follow Christ according to the word of Scripture. In 1991 he and his fellow workers founded the church at Pothanicad.

Biography

His life, in brief

T.A. Pathrose was born on 23 November 1934 as the second of the five children of Tholanikunnel Eshaya and Cherchi. His wife was the late Sarakkutty, of the Murikkal family at Kuruppampady. He leaves three children, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He worked principally at Mar Athanasius Engineering College, Kothamangalam. After retiring from there he served also at Sree Narayana Gurukulam Engineering College, Kadayiruppu, and at Holy Kings Engineering College, Pampakuda. Even in retirement he led an energetic life.

He was zealous in spiritual work, including St. Paul’s Mission and the Sunday School. After his experience of being born again he gave himself more fully to the work of the Gospel. Through his personal life of faith, through evangelistic work and through service, he influenced many. He stood firmly in the early ministries of the local churches at Kothamangalam and Pothanicad.

Through the ailments of old age he made no complaint. In the early hours of 16 August 2026 that blessed life was completed here, and he journeyed into the presence of God for which he had hoped.

He took care to keep warm bonds of love with his family, his relatives, his friends and the people of the church. Though this parting grieves all who loved him, there is no doubt that the noble example of love, diligence and compassion he showed through his life will go on shaping generations. Thank you.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” — 2 Timothy 4:7–8

A spoken remembrance

When Brother Pathrose came to our home in Palakkad some years ago, he said: “When I die, the two of you must speak the remembrance.” Mine was the first name he said.

A man of God, a champion of faith, and a warrior who led many to Christ. A principled man who stood unshaken amidst opposition and the pressures of tradition. A personality held in high esteem and respect by many. A devoted father and a man of God who loved the Lord, His people, and His work and who consistently cherished that love from the very day we met. He will always remain in our memories.

Mr. Joseph

A fire brand for the Lord. He has run his race well. He (Appachen) now has seen what he had hoped for and rests from his labour.

Prof. Alexander GeorgeRetired Professor, Agriculture University, Mannuthy

Pathrose Appachan was a true warrior for the Gospel, a man who was never ashamed of the Gospel. He demonstrated through his life the words of Paul: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel” (Romans 1:16). Whether at his workplace, among students, with young people, or with the elderly, he valued every opportunity to share Christ and the Gospel with those around him. For him, the Gospel was not merely a message to be shared at a particular time or place; it was an integral part of his life.

Mr. Niby

Very sorry to hear the sad news, may God comfort you with the hope that we can meet him on the other shore. We can never forget your father, as he had a prominent part in the early church as a faithful servant of God.

Sis. BessyDaughter of Dr. K. Eapen

I believe he was a true warrior of faith who finished his race well. Though I never had the privilege of meeting him, I have been blessed to know God and His work through his daughter, who continues to inspire me. May the Lord comfort you, strengthen you, and sustain you with His grace and peace.

A very, very close family friend of ours. We grew up seeing him and my father going out for Gospel work on cycle. He played an important role in mine and in my sister’s marriage. His home was open for worship meetings for a long time. He truly was a man of God, who left a legacy behind. We will miss him on our next visit to Kerala.
